Swiss Cottage

Swiss Cottage ward covers two areas around the Swiss Cottage gyratory, separated by the A41: South Hampstead to the west, and Primrose Hill and St John's Wood to the south-east.

Those two areas are notable for being heavily residential, with Finchley Road itself being the only major commercial area in the ward.  South Hampstead is defined by tall red-brick terrace houses and mansion blocks, dating to the mid-19th century.  The areas to the south-east are a mix of lower-rise housing and mansion blocks.

The ward does not have any Conservative councillors, but the Conservatives are the second largest party locally, having had three councillors until 2018, and hold regular street stalls with Conservative councillors representing other wards once a month:

  • 3rd Saturday each month: outside Waitrose, Finchley Road, from 10:30am to 12:30pm

I living locally, where West End Lane meets Abbey Road, I have a good perspective on issues affecting our ward, including housing, development and infrastructure – to name just a few.

I promote access to justice for the Law Society. Prior to that, I spent three years leading the fight against HS2 while working in Parliament. I care deeply about our environment, and from my work in mitigating damage caused by HS2, I know the damage large developments — like 100 Avenue Road and CS11  — can do to the environment.

I’ve written plans to help councils across the UK provide for Special Educational Needs for seven years.
