Fortune Green

Fortune Green ward stretches from Finchley Road to Shoot Up Hill - covering the northern half of West West Hampstead and the southern part of Cricklewood.

The ward is varied and diverse, with the busy shopping thoroughfare of Cricklewood Broadway and the high-density Fordwych Road and Westcroft Estate; the terraces of West Hampstead's 'Greek streets' flanked by the green spaces of Gondar Gardens Reservoir, Hampstead Cemetery, and Fortune Green itself; and mansion blocks along and near Finchley Road. It shares a number of residents' associations with West Hampstead, but also the Fordwych Residents' Association and other associations representing Cricklewood.

The ward does not have any Conservative councillors, but the Conservatives hold regular street stalls with Conservative councillors representing other wards once a month:

  • 4th Saturday each month: outside Caffè Nero, West End Lane, from 10:30am to 12:30pm

I was born and raised locally and am proud of our community. But despite its beauty and character, it needs champions on Camden Council to stand up for it.

Fortune Green faces many serious challenges: from having the fastest increase in crime in London to the surge in fly-tipping and rat infestations since the cuts to bin collections.

There are other issues needing attention too: rising pollution levels, ensuring local businesses have the support they need, and preserving our green areas like Gondar Gardens.

We’re facing many changes and it’s time our politicians make a difference and have your best interest at heart.  My aim is to ensure your voice is heard and your concerns addressed.

I’ve lived on Achilles Road for the last 7 years, and I want to bring some fresh ideas and much-needed energy to represent our community on Camden Council.

I was a founder governor of St Luke’s Primary School, and with St Luke’s already one of the most oversubscribed schools in the country, I am committed to providing more school places.

I love our community’s green spaces and shops, but I’ve been shocked by the state of our streets following Labour’s cuts to bin collections, and will fight to restore weekly collections.

As a recent victim of burglary, I am all too aware that we need to fight to keep Fortune Green safe and maintain its local feel.  I will fight to keep all services at Fortune Green local police station and push for more police on local streets.
